Strategic Communications & Marketing
- Develop and maintain strategic messaging and outreach materials for DISS to engage internal and external stakeholders, including military branches, security officers, and federal program offices.
- Produce polished slick sheets, executive summaries, and capability overviews that clearly convey the DISS mission, features, and value proposition.
- Design and deliver briefing materials for senior leadership, governance boards, user forums, and interagency presentations.
- Lead the creation of educational and onboarding content, including user guides, quick-start manuals, and training slide decks tailored for DISS users and administrators.
- Apply instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to structure and deliver adult learning content in support of software rollouts, system updates, or security policy changes.
- Support the transition of complex technical or process information into simplified, accessible formats suitable for non-technical audiences.
- Serve as the primary liaison between communications, training teams, and DISS technical SMEs to ensure content accuracy, policy alignment, and branding consistency.
- Conduct regular reviews of materials to incorporate stakeholder feedback, compliance requirements, and evolving system capabilities.
- Provide editorial oversight, version control, and visual design recommendations for all customer-facing content.
- Assess and recommend improvements to training delivery methods, communications strategies, and product documentation based on usage trends and user feedback.
- Ensure materials comply with DoD communications standards, 508 accessibility requirements, and security review processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Instructional Design, Marketing, Technical Writing, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in marketing communications, instructional design, or training content development, with at least 3+ years supporting DoD programs.
- Proven experience developing materials for enterprise IT or security-related systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and visual design tools (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Canva).
- Strong understanding of federal branding standards, technical writing, and adult learning principles.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience supporting the DISS program, NBIS, or other DoD security and personnel vetting systems.
- Familiarity with JPAS decommissioning and transition messaging.
- Knowledge of 508 compliance, Agile content development, or user experience (UX) documentation principles.
- Experience managing communications plans, editorial calendars, or stakeholder communications strategies.
